Make a plane stand ―Establishment and Development of Daiya in Tokyo
Outline of the exhibition
The wear of the plane stand is so fast that it is said to be "one plane body (Kannami) 10 plane stand", and the carpenters made a plane stand by themselves for a long time from the spread of the plane plane, scraped the plane blade, and sharper I was working on a daily basis by finishing it as a tool. From the end of Meiji period, when various special planes were devised to process wood more accurately and quickly, specialized craftsmen in making planes appeared and played an active role as "daiya" until Showa.
At the exhibition, mainly from Soichiro Ito (1922-2017), the owner of Yamaasa Ito Shoten, a plane stand craftsman known as a master of hitting a plane stand "does not loose" and "does not go crazy" plane stand, I will introduce the work of the daiya who played an active part in the suburbs of Tokyo.
Please take a look at the world of plane stand craftsmen, which has been rarely spoken so far.

■Seminar on "Technology and Mind" [105] Roundtable "Age of Planedai Self-made"
※Web application only. From the Meiji era to the Showa era, plane-mounting craftsmen refined their skills and supported the craftsmanship of craftsmen. In recent years, with the decrease in the number of specialized craftsmen, users have entered the era of making their own plane stand. In this round-table discussion, we will talk about the past and future of making planes from the standpoint of one of the few "makers", "tool shops" handling planes, and "users" processing trees.
