Outline of the exhibition

Isamu Noguchi, a sculptor of the 20th century (1904-1988). He is also known for his work using various materials such as wood and stone, as well as metal, clay, and sometimes paper. It can be said that his wide range of creative activities had already begun when he was a boy, receiving woodwork instructions from a carpenter who he met when he built his home `` Triangle House '' in Chigasaki, and crossed the Pacific Ocean with a set of tools.
Some of the tools he used are preserved at the Noguchi Museum in New York. They are a mixture of Western tools and Japanese tools, and are born to a Japanese father and an American mother, and are an international collection unique to Noguchi, which has a hybrid East-West personality.
Noguchi finally arrives at sculptures using hard stones such as granite and basalt, and builds an atelier in Mure-cho, Kagawa Prefecture. It was also the result of seeking the craftsmanship of masonry who could process hard stones. In this exhibition, through the "tools" actually used by Noguchi, we will unravel how "materials" and "technology" were closely related in the production process of the work.
