Build a house using familiar materials. What does it mean for people to live with nature? This time, following the previous rice harvesting, I experienced the technique of actually building a house through a workshop.

First of all, what does it mean to build a house with Mr. Koji Sato of the National Museum of Ethnology, the supervisor? What is a house in the first place? He told me from the dimension. He explained using the idea of bricolage to use familiar materials in nature without leaving garbage. That sounds a bit difficult, but it's actually easy. It was a big story from my eyes.

"How can I build a house with only the air and water found anywhere on the earth?" The hard head is loosened little by little by little.

Next, Mr. Katsutomo Kanno of miyadaiku, who was in charge of reproducing Marap's house, explained how it differs from how Japanese house was built. There are a wide variety of natural materials in Southeast Asia. How do you make good use of it? You can only see saw the sawn, and you can also talk about the techniques of making logs with various finishes.

Well, today's main event is the beginning of roofing. This time, of course, we use the rice straw we cut in the previous WS.

We grow rice to harvest rice. No one grows rice to get straw. After taking the rice, cut it with a combine to feed. But if it could be used as a roof during that time...

Until a while ago, straw has been used in various ways as a daily necessities such as ropes. Actually, it is a weak material as a roofing material, so it is rare to be used in Japan, but there are still some areas in foreign countries that use it like that. This time, it was an attempt to learn such things together with Indonesian-style roofing.

However, once you get started, you'll be passionate about the work. In about an hour, one side of the roof was roofed.

Children love huts. Unlike Japan's roofing method, Indonesia's roof is thin, so if you open a little bit, you can open the window immediately.

Commemorative photo with a friend I met today!

Everyone in the morning section.

It's everyone in the afternoon.

Have you ever been able to bring something back to you? I hope you can feel the natural surroundings.
