Studied under Chojiro Senda, the 10th generation of Chong Tang. He is involved in the production of Karagami, such as Katsura Imperial Villa and Nijo Castle. After retiring from Tang, he opened a workshop (Honjo Paper Art) in Yamashina, Kyoto, and became independent. Received the Kyoto City Traditional Industrial Technology Achievement Award in 2003.

Born in Kyoto in 1951. After graduating from high school, he took over the plastering of the family business and studied at Ritsumeikan University's Faculty of Science and Engineering. After graduation, he trained at Saikyo Kogyo in Tokyo, and after returning home, constructed mainly on the clay walls of the tea ceremony and Sukiya architecture. He obtained his Ph.D. from Kyoto Institute of Technology in 2008. Professor, Kyoto Institute of Technology.
Main work: Renovation of Nagoya Castle Sarumen Tea Ceremony and Shoin, new construction of the guest room of Kyoto State Guest House, renovation of Heian Jogakuin Meijikan, etc.
