First, a demonstration of log inking. Ink is written with a red jar on a log with a natural skin.
It seems that the way the log shows will change depending on the ink sticking. The participants also watched the moment of tension with a breath.

It is a state of inking of a log small mouth. The template is punched so that the ink can be easily attached. There was a commentary on core ink, Tensui, and Downing ink from the ridge beam, but it may have been a little difficult for those who do not have experience at the site.

Next is a demonstration of woodwork around the eaves. The roof is assembled using bamboo, a material unique to Sukiya. It seems that it is difficult to arrange bamboo with different thickness.

This is a demonstration of mesh knitting used for ceilings, etc. It is a traditional technique of knitting on arrow feathers using a hegi plate (divided board). After this, the visitors also experienced it.

I also experienced the vine knitting of the base window. It is knitted with soft wisteria dolphins attached to water. When dried, it tightens firmly.
I think you could have enjoyed the skills of Sukiya carpenters who make use of natural materials to create architecture. I'm sorry that many people came to the event on the day and it was crowded. Thank you very much to everyone at Yasui Moru Corporation for your cooperation.
In addition, as similar demonstrations and hands-on events, "How to make a tea ceremony clay wall" and "Let's make a postcard with Karagami" are planned. Please come here too. For details, please see the event page.
