special exhibition "The Story of a Tree" The 13th Sit and Compare: The One-Chair Exhibition + (plus) 2023
Outline of the exhibition
In the winter of last year, we met a zelkova tree that ended its role and was destined to be cut down.
Normally, it may have been incinerated as it is, or it may have been finely crushed as a fuel chip. However, the encounter dwells on a tree as a new role, and the story will continue.
The One-Chair Exhibition members are involved in all processes such as logging, sawmilling, drying, etc., and once distributed to each workshop, the zelkova is transformed into various woodwork such as tables, stools, children's chairs, etc., and gathered again at the venue Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum (Kobe).
Since 2019, under the slogan "There is a tree there", we have been focusing on local timber that has been cut down in Hyogo Prefecture for various reasons, but this time we will be more involved in one tree and work on production .
In addition to comparing the sitting of the new chair held every year, please actually touch the continuation of the story of the tree at the venue.
