Outline of the exhibition

"The One-Chair Exhibition" has been held as an exhibition where furniture artists working in Hyogo Prefecture present their new chair "One leg" every year, and visitors can actually sit down and experience those works. This time, we will introduce the process until "woods" is reborn as a "chair" as a material, as well as the gestures that cannot be seen after assembly. In addition, as a special project, there are also popular works that have been selected based on questionnaires conducted in the past nine times. Please enjoy the scent of trees of various tree species and the space full of unique chairs.
※Depending on the situation in COVID-19 infection, you may not be able to test seats on the chair.

Cut the tree with a drawknife
In recent years, "Greenwood Work", which uses hand tools to make living tools with familiar raw wood, has attracted attention in Japan. This time, using a tool called a drone knife, the "round bar" that forms the basis of components such as chairs will be cut out from the tree of Mt. Rokko in Kobe. This is a course where children can learn about the characteristics of trees through the experience of Shaving, such as "order" and "backward".
