Outline of the exhibition

Finnish architect Alvar Aalto and his wife Aino explored a unique answer to Modernism with a design incorporating natural motifs based on Finnish environmental characteristics. Works realized in the competition, such as "Pai Mio Sanatorium" (1933), will instantly push them into the stage of architects around the world, and the furniture designed for architecture will pave the way for the establishment of Artek later. In this exhibition, we will focus on the technology of bending trees by Mrs. Aalto and Mrs. Aalto, and the development of "L-leg" bending solid wood into an L-shaped shape and "Lamera bending wood" using laminated plywood will follow the path from molding to commercialization.
