Overview | Shoun Sekino (1889-1947), who became a disciple of Koun Takamura at the age of 16, was a sculptor and educator who laid the foundation of wood carving culture since the Meiji era. Seiun's tools, especially known as tool lovers among sculptors, have various ideas to realize all kinds of wood carving techniques. For example, there are various types of sculptors, chisels (only), planes (kannas), and special-shaped craft saws. In this exhibition, about 40 tools of Shoun Sekino, who produced many excellent works, will be exhibited in one hall. |
