The turbulent Meiji period and craftsmen were inspired by Western culture and technology, and developed new tools one after another. Meiji period can be said to be the era of ingenuity of craftsmen.
In this exhibition, the trial and error of Meiji craftsmen, focusing on about 15 materials such as two planes, which are said to have appeared in the Meiji era, and a mechanical decision (Kikaijakuri) plane that applied Western screws to a plane stand. Explore One of the highlights is the "two planes that reuse cigarette knives" revealed in recent research.
