Overview

We make our own bowl using precious "Joboji Temple lacquer" (produced in Ninohe City, Iwate Prefecture), where only one bottle of milk is collected from trees grown over 15 years. Joboji Temple Nuri, a simple and robust "living vessel", is a lacquerware that can be used for generations while repairing and repainting each time.
*This workshop is an event related to the exhibition of Revealing the mystery behind the architectural beauty of its shrines and temples The Colors and Metalwork of Nikko, a special project commemorating the registration of UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage “Traditional Architecture and Craftsmanship”.
