Overview

A cute strap made of precious "Joboji Temple lacquer" (from Ninohe City, Iwate Prefecture), where only one bottle of milk bottle is collected from trees grown over 15 years. You can understand and experience that lacquerware increases the gloss by using it. We will invite a special craftsman (lacquer and painter) from Joboji Temple to demonstrate and give lectures on lacquer collection and lacquer techniques in Joboji Temple. Recommended for those who want to know more about lacquer.
※The traditional technique of collecting Joboji Temple lacquer was registered in 2020 as one of the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Property's "Traditional Craftsmen." This event will be held to commemorate the registration.
*This workshop is an event related to the The Colors and Metalwork of Nikko - Revealing the mystery behind the architectural beauty of its shrines and temples, an exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum.
