We will invite craftsmen (decorators) who work on repairing metal fittings in Nikko shrines and temples to conduct demonstrations and hands-on classes on metal fittings.
In the demonstration, you will be able to perform a arabesque pattern kicking and chichiko stroke!
In the experience, first, you will experience carving straight lines, curves, and simple patterns with a chisel. Then, a small grain of Nanako is struck one by one on a copper plate with a pattern in advance to complete the ornamental metalwork.
*This workshop is an event related to the The Colors and Metalwork of Nikko - Revealing the mystery behind the architectural beauty of its shrines and temples, an exhibition commemorating the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum.
