World Wood Day is a multicultural event that brings together multidisciplinary experts, artisans and artists from all over the world to promote wood and sustainable environments.

Since 2010, the International Wood Culture Society has initiated a cultural commemoration event called “World Wood Day” (hereafter called "WWD") on March 21, the vernal equinox, each year to remind people that wood is an ecologically friendly, renewable biomaterial and a very important resource for a sustainable planet. In 2013, the United Nations designated March 21 as the International Day of Forests as a day to raise awareness of forests and trees worldwide. Therefore, WWD events which have been held annually around the world, also commemorated the International Day of Forests since 2013. This year, WWD is held for the first time in various locations in Japan.
