2011 Special Exhibition [Roofing - Roofing made of grass and wood] Demonstration and hands-on classes were held at the special venue of the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum Annex.
Following the Tokyo venue, lecturers are members of the National Preservation Society for Roofing Construction Technology in shrines and temples.
First of all, they talked about how to use cypress bark.
Everyone is curious about the stories that can only be heard by the craftsman who actually roofs, such as the interval between stacking the roofing material, the bamboo nails to fasten the roofing material, and the roko that is careful to create beautiful curves.
Next is a demonstration of actually having a cypress bark.
Put about 30 bamboo nails in the mouth, suppress the roofing material with the right hand, receive the bamboo nails from the mouth one by one with the left hand with a roof hammer, and fasten the roofing material. A cheer was raised from the venue for rhythmic work, saying "Oh!"
After the demonstration, we will use the roof hammer directly to pull out the bamboo nails out of the mouth and drive them in with the craftsmen. It's hard to turn the bamboo nails in your mouth.
On the other hand, it is a demonstration of the shaping process of roofing materials.
The bark master (a craftsman who peels cypress in the mountains) manually finishes the roofing material grated from the mountain to a certain thickness and shape according to the place used for the roof.
There were many questions from customers, and they answered carefully one by one.
Finally, I'm the instructor.
They are all incumbent craftsmen.
The day was blessed with good weather, there were many participants, and it ended successfully with great success. Thank you very much to all those who participated and all the members of the National Preservation Society for Roofing Construction Technology in shrines and temples, etc., who served as lecturers for a long time.
