One of the events of the 2011 Special Exhibition [Roofing-Roofing made of grass and wood], a commemorative seminar "Roofing with boards in North Europe-Finnish Wooden Church-" was held at Kobe City Education Hall.
In this seminar, we talked about Finnish wooden architecture, which we usually have few opportunities to interact with.
He talked about its structure and roof, focusing on the well-maintained churches among wooden structures.
This is Mr. Takeuchi, a lecturer.
He has been studying the construction of a wooden church in Finland for many years. I went directly to the repair site of a church designated as a cultural property, and conducted actual measurements and interviews, so I was able to hear realistic stories.
The roof that is roofed in a Finnish church is affixed like a scale with a board, and tar obtained from pine tar is applied to the surface and waterproofed.
It seems that the newly built church is black because all the tar is painted on the wood part.
It looks like the whole venue.
Thank you to Mr. Takeuchi, the lecturer who explained carefully, and everyone who came all the way in the rain on the day when the feet were bad.
