This year's "Technology and Mind" lecture will be held to commemorate the "Sukiya Carpenter" exhibition, and will be hosted by Dr. Masao Nakamura, a master carpenter of Kyoto, the home of Sukiya architecture, Sakan plasterers, and Meikishi. On the day, nearly 400 people gathered at the Lasse Hall Convention. You can see a high level of interest in Sukiya.
It started with an overview of Dr. Nakamura, who has been involved in the research and design of Sukiya for many years. He also introduced the exhibits of the "Sukiya Carpenter" exhibition, such as the picture of the tea room and the importance of dimensions, and talked about the history and characteristics of Sukiya in an easy-to-understand manner.
Next, the conversation with the craftsmen of Sukiya started. First, Mr. Mitsuyoshi Saito, the master of Sukiya carpenter at Yasui Moru Corporation, talked about his history as a craftsman. Dr. Nakamura designed and constructed the tea room with a sense of tension just like the site, such as the dimensions of the tea room, which was constructed by Mr. Saito.
Sakan plasterers craftsman Kaichiro Sato is 92 years old. Through his many years of experience, Sakan plasterers's skill was generously demonstrated. In addition to Sakan plasterers's work, the audience was applauded by the audience at the venue, with a view of Sukiya and architecture in general.
Noriko Nakagawa of Senbon Meiki Shokai spoke about the materials of Sukiya, such as logs and ceilings. He explained the characteristics of Kitayama Sugi, the types of logs used in Sukiya, and the work of a famous wood master in an easy-to-understand manner.
In this lecture, which was held in a dialogue format, Dr. Nakamura asked craftsmen a sharp question about Sukiya. While respecting each other's work, I was able to feel the difficulty and importance of creating a sukiya in talking about the tension that I would do my best in each job.
At the Nagoya venue of the "Sukiya Carpenter" exhibition, a lecture by Dr. Masao Nakamura entitled "Owari no Tea and Sukiya General Contract" will be held on December 9 (Sun). . Please look forward to it.
