"The skills of DoKondo, Toshodaiji Temple -"

In this exhibition, we will exhibit a Tou model of the Kondo of Toshodaiji Temple, which is nearly 4 meters high, so that you can understand the work of Domiya carpenters handling huge wood. The dou is located on a pillar and is part of a wooden frame that supports the roof and ceiling, and the model is made of the same size as the actual building under the guidance of Tsunekazu Nishioka ridge beam of a carpenter at Horyuji Temple. This time, as an opening event, we will specially release how this huge model is assembled using human power alone. This is a great opportunity to see the skills of Domiya carpenters up close, so I would like to invite you to come and visit us.
※This model will be on display at the entrance hall until December 26 during the exhibition.
