Date and time: Saturday, November 20, 2010 10:00-12:00, 13:30-16:00
Location: Entrance Hall of the Industrial Technology Memorial Hall (Nishi-ku, Nagoya)
Demonstration: Chinori Kitamura (the museum's Master Carpenter)
At the Nagoya venue, assembling the Tou (Tokyo) model of Kondo Toshodaiji Temple, a highlight exhibition, was opened as an opening event. I'll tell you about that.
This time, a total of five carpenters, including the Ogawa mass city ridge of Ringikosha, as well as a technician Kitamura from the museum. Kitamura Technician also came from Ringikosha, so it was an event with the cooperation of old and new staff.
In the photo, it looks like a headuki is attached to the pillar. The steel frame in the back is intended to support the butt of the tail rafter, which is a structural material.
In addition, this model is finished with an ancient tool called Yariganna. Yariganna used by Tsunekazu Nishioka ridge is also on display at the exhibition hall, so if you are interested, please take a look at the venue.
I've just assembled up to the second elbows. Although hidden in the photo, the killer whale plug is placed on the back of the rainbow beam (Koryo) and the joint of the elbow tree.
You will not be able to build a large building unless the fittings and gestures are solid.
In this model, it looks like a diagonal material called the largest rafter is assembled. It's quite heavy, but it's lifted by human power. It was a scene where the audience watching was also sweating. I can often realize that Domiya carpenters handle large wood.
I assembled up to the top girder in the morning. On the day of the event, nearly 20 spectators replaced and watched. I was curious about carpentry that I couldn't usually see. At the venue, the museum researchers explained what kind of work they are doing for beginners.
It is a model that was completed by crossing the eaves. At the Nagoya venue, we were able to hang wires from the ceiling, so we were able to remove the obstructive stick. It is only this Nagoya venue where you can see the full picture of the model including the eaves.
Please take a look at this opportunity!
※The model exhibition will be held until December 26. Although it is not shown in the photo, you can see a video recording the assembly on a mini DVD in front of the model during the period.
the museum's first attempt to build a model in a public manner. I was relieved to finish without any accidents. Thank you very much for your cooperation. For those who missed the opportunity, it is not a woodwork technique, but you can see the techniques of yariganna cutting in demonstrations and hands-on classes. Please join us at this event.
