1.Gong

Bittern, single-edge, vertical grinding

There are two types: one with a diagonal pattern and one with a straight one. The former is mainly used for large portions of materials, and the latter is mainly used for small portions. 8 inches to 3 inches are normal.

2.Grinding

Hikiri/one blade/horizontal grinding

It is also known as "Kiri". Used for horizontal grinding. 8 inches to 3 inches are normal.

3.Double-edge saw

Ryobanoko / double blade

A common saw with both vertical and horizontal saw teeth on both sides of the saw body. It became popular nationwide since the 1930s. 8 inches to 2 inches are normal.

4.A hole saw

Anabiki Ryobako/double blade

It's used for rough work. The horizontal grinding is Ibarame, which has the same function as a hole saw. Shaku to 3 inches are normal.
