<Lecture> Wood Gumi - Searching for Beauty and Strength

Kenji Suda, a wood crafter and an important intangible cultural property holder (living national treasure), describes how people refined the "Kigumi" and pursued "beauty and strength" while looking back on the history of woodworking.

[Workshop at home] Making Kumiko Coaster ※Sold out

Kumiko technique that creates beautiful patterns by combining trees without using nails. How to make it Let's make a simple hemp leaf coaster at home while watching the video. *Size: 11.5cm
The coaster kit production was supported by Eiichi Yokota, a leading expert in Kumiko work. Please also see the video "Heritage of Kumiko Crafts" that introduces Kumiko work techniques.
※This workshop is a related event of the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum joint exhibition of the National Museum of Nature and Science, "I tried to dissolve wood".
