<Lecture> Wood-Gumi - in search of beauty and strength

Kenji Suda, a wood craftsman and an important intangible cultural property holder (living national treasure), describes how people refined the "Kigumi" and pursued "beauty and strength". I will talk while looking back.

[Workshop at home] Making Kumiko Coaster ※Sold out

Kumiko work technique that creates beautiful patterns by assembling trees without using nails. How to make it Let's make a simple hemp leaf coaster at home while watching the video. *Size: 11.5cm
The coaster kit production was supported by Eiichi Yokota, a leading expert in kumiko work. Please also take a look at the video "Heritage of Kumiko Crafts" that introduces Kumiko craftsmanship.
※This workshop will be a related event of the joint exhibition of the Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum of the National Museum of Nature and Science.
