<Workshop> Children can ride! Assembly of Kintai-kyo Bridge 1/5 model ※Cancellation

Kintai-kyo Bridge in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture is a five-story arch bridge built in 1673, and is a structure made of wood and wood with a rare structure in the world. Assemble a 1/5 model of Kintai-kyo Bridge borrowed from Iwakuni City, learn about its structure, and experience the charm of Kigumi. Children can ride the completed model!

<Workshop> Making Kumiko Coaster

Kumiko's technology that creates beautiful patterns by assembling trees without using nails. We invite Mr. Eiichi Yokota, a leading figure of Kumiko, to talk about his history and technology, and under the guidance of Mr., we will make a hemp leaf coaster.

<"Technology and Heart" Lecture> What is Kigumi?

Japanese woodwork is one of the most important techniques not only in architecture, but also in the world of handicrafts, fittings, furniture, and crafts. Craftsmen in each field have refined their skills over a long period of time and pursued the strength and beauty of woodwork. In this lecture, we will listen to the stories unique to craftsmen in the field from the viewpoints of carpenters, crafts, fittings, and various craftsmen involved in wood, and compare the characteristics of woodwork in each occupation, and explore the diversity, meaning, and fun of woodwork.
