<Workshop> Kids can ride! Kintai-kyo Bridge 1/5 model assembly ※Cancellation

Kintai-kyo Bridge in Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture is a five-way arch bridge built in 1673, and is a structure made of wood and wood with a rare structure in the world. Assemble a 1/5 model of Kintai-kyo Bridge borrowed from Iwakuni City to learn its structure, and experience the charm of Kigumi. The finished model has a child!

<Workshop> Making Kumiko Coaster

Kumiko's technology to create beautiful patterns by combining trees without using nails. We invite Mr. Eiichi Yokota, a leading figure of Kumiko, to talk about its history and technology, including demonstrations, and under his guidance, we will make a hemp leaf coaster.

<Seminar of Skills and Mind> [96]miyadaiku talks about the wooden group

Mr. Sadahide Kanda, representative of Harima shrines and temples Corporation, who works on repairing national treasures such as Jodoji Temple and Kakurinji Temple, talked about trees and architecture related to cultural properties, and actually assembled the hut back wooden group (reduced version).

<Lecture of Skills and Mind> What is a wooden group?

The Japanese wooden group is one of the most important techniques not only in architecture, but also in the world of finger objects in fittings and furniture, as well as in handicrafts. Craftsmen in each field have spent a long time polishing their skills and pursuing the strength and beauty of the wood group. In this lecture, we will listen to the stories unique to craftsmen in that field through the perspectives of carpenters, crafts, fittings, and various craftsmen involved in wood, and compare the characteristics of wooden groups in each occupation. We will explore the diversity, meaning, and fun of "Kigumi".
