Contents of the exhibition | Miki (Hyogo Prefecture) is known as a famous gold production area in Japan. It is said that its origin was about 1500 years ago, when a technical group with great technology settled in Miki and performed blacksmiths. After that, along with the development of blacksmithing technology, many excellent carpenters also produced. During the Warring States period, sword making became popular, and it prospered greatly as a castle town on the Chugoku Highway. During the Edo period, the wonderfulness of Miki carpentry tools owned by carpenters who went to Kyoto, Osaka, and Tajima were also popular in other countries, making it a famous gold production area. In this exhibition, we will introduce the manufacturing process of five items designated as traditional craft product, such as saws, chisels, planes, mortars, and swords, focusing on the object "hardware eagle" made by stabbing about 3,300 Miki hardware such as saws and kitchen knives. |
