Overview of the ExhibitionKijiya is a craftsman who cuts trees from the mountains and hangs them on a potter's wheel, and grinds wood such as bowls and trays.
In this exhibition, through the works and tools of Kijiya and Eiichi Kogure who played an active part in Nagiso in Nagano Prefecture, we will explore the skills of Kijiya and the charm of Hikimono, which are familiar with trees and bring out beautiful grains. .

Eiichi Kogure Profile
Born in 1937 in Nagiso-cho, Kiso-gun, Nagano Prefecture. He studied under his father, Tomoichi at the age of 16, and has been grinding wood for more than 50 years since then. In 1993, he was certified as a regular member of the Japan Kogei Association. He passed away in 2010.
Contents of the exhibition1.The work of Eiichi Kijiya Kogure
Around the collection of Kozenji Temple, about 30 selected items such as round table, jikiro, tray, and large bowls will be exhibited. (Partial exhibitions are scheduled to be changed during the exhibition period.)
2.Woodmaking process and tools
We will introduce the process of picking wood from raw wood and grinding wood from a potter's wheel together with production tools. Mr. Eiichi Ogura performed himself from the selection of logs to the finished wiping lacquer to maximize the beauty of the wood grain.
3.History of Kijiya
It is said that the history of Kijiya dates back to more than a thousand years ago. Kijiyas walked across mountains all over Japan in search of good materials. I would like to introduce the details.44-3b
