Overview of the Exhibition | Everett Brown is a photojournalist who lives in Japan and travels across the country and continues to explore the traditional culture of Japan. Traditional Japanese culture that has disappeared rapidly since the Meiji era. Brown says young people in Japan now seem to be wandering in search of the water veins of divided culture. Following the Tokyo exhibition held at Gallery Akwad in 2014, this exhibition showcases about 40 contemporary masters, carpentry tools owned by the museum, and traditional architectures taken by Mr. Brown using photography techniques from the late Tokugawa period to the Meiji period. The wetplate photographs, which have been carefully copied over time, exude the lost time of Japan, so to speak, the "remnants of Japan." Mr. Brown follows the remnants of Japan who live in the present age, and see the footprints of the the museum's tools and dialogues with masters. In addition, as a special project of the Kobe exhibition, young craftsmen who interact with Mr. Brown will create objects related to the photo exhibition under the theme of the remnants of Japan that have been handed down to the present day.
