Outline of the exhibition

Chochikukyo-The Wooden Modernism of Koji Fujii, which was designated as an Important Cultural Property in 2017 as a masterpiece of Modernism architecture representing Japan. Koji Fujii, who designed "Chochikukyo-The Wooden Modernism of Koji Fujii" as his home, was enrolled in the early days of the design department of Takenaka Corporation, and then established architectural and environmental engineering as an academic discipline at Kyoto University, immersed himself in the design of "housing" as a practice. Fujii's housing complex, which was truly in the Japanese climate, gives us a variety of suggestions in the 21st century of the "Environmental Century". 2018 marks the 130th anniversary of Koji Fujii's birth, 80th anniversary of his death, and 90th year of construction of Chochikukyo-The Wooden Modernism of Koji Fujii. In the year of this milestone, we will hold an exhibition introducing Koji Fujii's thoughts on "Japanese housing" who left the phrase "the architecture that represents the country is housing construction" through several existing housing works centered on his own residence "Chochikukyo-The Wooden Modernism of Koji Fujii".
This exhibition is based on the exhibition "Chochikukyo-The Wooden Modernism of Koji Fujii" and Koji Fujii held at Gallery A4 in 2009, and is preparing a more fulfilling content by adding new materials discovered in recent years.
