Overview | Shoun Sekino (1889-1947), who became a disciple of Koun Takamura at the age of 16, was a person who laid the foundation of wood carving culture since the Meiji era as a sculptor and educator. Among the sculptors, Seiun's tools, especially known as tools lovers, have various ideas to realize all kinds of wood carving methods. For example, there are various shapes of chisels, chisels and planes that seem to have been made for one job, and specially shaped crafts saws. In this exhibition, about 40 tools from Shoun Sekino, who produced many excellent works, will be exhibited in one hall. |
