In the turbulent Meiji period, craftsmen were inspired by Western culture and techniques, and developed new tools one after another by devising existing tools. Meiji period can be said to be the age of creative craftsmanship.
In this exhibition, Meiji craftsmen will focus on about 15 materials, such as a two-plane plane that was said to have appeared in the Meiji era, and a mechanical decision plane that applied West screws to a plane table. Explore trial and error. One of the highlights is the "two-plane planes that reuse tobacco knives", which was revealed in recent research.
