The chisel (only) is a tool that examines the sharpness as well as a plane. In particular, during the period from the Meiji era, when hand tools were at its peak, before and after the Showa era, blacksmiths called master craftsmen appeared, and many sharp masterpieces were created. This time, we will take up the chisel of "Sakuhiro", known as a master craftsman of chisel blacksmithing in Tokyo.
The inscription "Sakuhiro" continued for three generations from the first generation Umekichi Kashiwagi, who was active in the Meiji era, and among them, the chisel created by Masataro Kashiwagi, the second generation, among hole carpenters (Anaya) specializing in digging pits for construction materials. It was highly evaluated as a "sturdy and durable chisel". This time, we will introduce about 30 pieces of chisel of various shapes from the collection of the museum.
