The exhibition "Spring Ishii-Azlejo and Space", which opened on October 1, 2022, will be presented in a photo report format.

The venue is located in various places such as terraces and courtyards around the 1st floor hall. The first thing you can see is the "voyage dining table", a work that mixes azulejo in Portugal and Japanese tiles. It is a work inspired by the dining table in a sailing ship swaying by waves during the voyage period.

Beside it is a masterpiece of 5.8m long, "Gift from the Voyage". We have been transporting what was exhibited at an exhibition in Portugal. It is a combination of colorful azulejo.

On the curved wall, a traditional Portuguese azulejo is introduced along with the video. All of Azlejos were baked in the Fortuna workshop near Lisbon.

In the back space, there is an introduction of Haru Ishii's Azley Giotile and a tea room made of tiles.

The tea room is "one tatami mat", which is considered to be the smallest size. The L-shaped surrounding the tea room is the image of a waterway.

The blue tiles are very beautiful with a pattern like snow crystals.

On the innermost wall, a masterpiece "Shizuku" is also scattered all over the wall. According to the author, he wanted to express the traditional moist rain while the heavy rain caused the world.

At the end of the exhibition, there is a video corner. Haru Ishii's thoughts on the production of Azlejo are recorded (about 8 minutes). It is recommended for those who want to understand the work in detail.

The works are exhibited not only in the 1st floor hall, but also in various places in the hall. On the 1st floor terrace, there is a "water surface view" inspired by the garden of a temple in Kyoto.

At the landing on the way down to B1F, you will be greeted with a cute fish tile work "Fish you want to play".

In the courtyard of the B1F tile floor, there is a "sea breeze road" with cubes lined up. The harmony with the existing architecture is a highlight. Also, if you look at it on a rainy day, you can enjoy a different atmosphere.

There is also a work on the bottom B2F. It is a work called "Adventure Road", which depicts a line of a single tile on a cobblestone laid in a line.

All of them are richly colored architectural spaces with decorative tiles such as Azulejo, and are unique to Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum architecture. Please take a look at it.
