The exhibition "Spring Ishii-Azlejo and Space" opened on October 1, 2022 will be presented in a photo report format.

The venue is located around the 1st floor hall in various places such as terraces and courtyards. The first thing you will see is the work "The Navigation Table", a mix of Portuguese azuregio and Japanese tiles. This work is inspired by the dining table in a sailing ship swaying by waves during the Age of Discovery.

Beside it is a masterpiece of 5.8 meters long, "Gift from Navigation". We have been transporting items exhibited at exhibitions in Portugal overseas. It is a combination of colorful azulejo.

On the curved wall, traditional Portuguese azulejo is introduced along with images. All azregio were baked in the Fortuna workshop near Lisbon.

In the back space, there is an introduction of Haru Ishii's Azley Jotile and a tea room made of tiles.

The tea room is considered to be the smallest size "Ichijotame stand". The L-shaped shape surrounding the tea room is the image of a waterway.

The blue tiles are very beautiful with a pattern like a snow crystal.

On the back wall, this is also a masterpiece "Shizuku" scattered all over the wall. According to the author, he wanted to express the old-fashioned moist rain while heavy rain made the world noise.

At the end of the exhibition, there is a video corner. Haru Ishii's thoughts on azulejo production are recorded (about 8 minutes). It is recommended for those who want to understand the work in detail.

Works are exhibited not only in the 1st floor hall but also in various places in the hall. On the 1st floor terrace, there is a "water surface view" inspired by the garden of a temple in Kyoto.

At the landing on the way down to B1F, you will be greeted with a cute fish tile work "fish you want to play".

In the courtyard of the B1F tile floor, there is a "sea breeze road" lined with cubes. Harmony with existing architecture is a sight. Also, if you look at it on a rainy day, you can enjoy a different atmosphere.

There is also a work on the B2F at the bottom. It is a work called "Adventure Road" depicting a line of a single tile on a cobblestone laid in a line shape.

All of them are decorated with decorative tiles such as Azlejo, and the exhibition is unique to Takenaka Carpentry Tools Museum architecture. Please take a look up close.
