On September 21, a mini-lecture "Takumi's Heart to Make Tile" Talked by tile carpenter Seiichi Yamamoto "was held. We welcomed Mr. Seiichi Yamamoto, who was taken care of at the exhibition "Thousand Years of Iraki-Roofing Ancient Tiles-" and talked.

First, the history of Japanese tiles. He told me that the technology of the tiled roof was introduced from Kudara along with the construction of Asuka-ji Temple in 588, and that shortly after it was introduced, Japan independently devised eaves flat tiles with patterns on flat tiles at the eaves. Was.

Next, we talked about the shape and delivery of the roof of Nara period, which we arrived based on the repair and restoration of cultural properties of ancient architecture.

He explained how to avoid hiding the face of the corner onigawara, how to stop the tiles without holes, and why the onigawara of the corner building changed from one to two.

In addition, while looking at the graphics on the wall of the venue, I was able to hear about the repair of Showa Univ. at the Great Buddha Hall of Todaiji Temple.

It was a valuable story that I could hear only because I was a veteran of 70 years of tiles.
