Demonstration of the master's technique transmitted to the Chinese palace
Lecturer Lee Eijiu (China)
Date and time: October 11 (Sat) 14:00 to 15:30
Venue Takenaka Corporation Tokyo Main Store 1F
A demonstration event was held with Mr. Lee Eijia, a leader of China. The previous day's lecture will explain more concretely about Chinese architectural technology, which was introduced only in an overview.
First, using a partial model of Taiwa-dono in Forbidden City on display, we explained the technical characteristics and highlights of Taiwa-dono.
Mr. Lee has a gate shaku. Ruler measuring good and bad luck. In the building of Forbidden City, it is said that the dimensions of various parts are made to be good.
Next is a demonstration using tools. First, I would like to introduce the technique of making rafters in the corner. By cutting diagonally with a saw according to the ink line written on the front and back of the plate-shaped material, members of different angles gradually become more efficient. This time it was reproduced with a small model. Two people use a frame saw to check the ink line on the front and back. This is a joint work between the leaders and the participants.
Next, a demonstration of inking using a board called "drawing board". The size and depth of the hozo hole opened in the round pillar in the foreground is copied on a board of about 30 cm long, and it is used to ink on the corner material visible in the back. It is a rare technology that was used in an era when the shape and size of components were not constant.
Finally, the Chinese plane. After Mr. Lee's demonstration, the participants will also experience it. Unlike Japan, it seems to be very different because it is pressed and used.
A demonstration event by Mr. Lee will also be held in Kobe. This is a valuable opportunity to compare Chinese and Korean skills in one day.
